• Kao Yip Middle School

    Kao Yip Middle School (Chinese: 教業中學 ; Portuguese: Escola Kao Yip), previously known as Hong Kao Middle School (founded in 1910) and merged in 1975 with Ngan Yip Primary School (in 1949). The founding principal was Mr. Ho Yin, who is a senior leader of the Chinese community in Macau, and he was succeeded by Mr. Wan Kuan Lok in 1986.  Currently the school is comprised of local curriculum and International Baccalaureate programme, each providing free K-12 education. There are 298 teaching staffs and 2886 students currently enrolled in the school. The current chair of school governing body is Dr. Kevin Ho and school principal is Dr. Cheng He.

    On the basis of the “Curriculum Framework for Formal Education” and the “Requirements of Basic Academic Attainments”, while strengthening the construction of disciplines, the school has implemented the integration of curriculum in kindergartens, primary, middle schools and senior high schools, and continued to build a basic, developmental and international curriculum teaching system.

     

    Since September 2016, the school started to implement full continuum International Baccalaureate programmes, to better fulfill the "Local Formal Education Curriculum Framework" and "Basic Academic Requirements” The school practice a student-centred approach that emphasis on discipline, inquiry-based and multi-dimensional learning. Escola Kao Yip is now an authorized IB World School. It is the first international section in Macao providing full continuum IB programme that includes PYP (May. 2021), MYP (Jul. 2021), and DP  (Jan. 2020) programmes.
